Our Code Club is part a nationwide network of after-school coding clubs for children. Learning to code is more than just a vocational skill: it changes the way children analyse and solve problems, and encourages creative thinking and collaboration.

Our Code Club open to children in Years 5 & 6. It is run by an amazing volunteer called James and is supported by Mrs Parry and Mr Henry. It meets every Thursday after school.

Code Club provides step-by-step activity sheets for children to follow so that they can create games, animations, and websites, learning the key concepts of coding at the same time. The children learn Scratch, HTML & CSS, and Python by making games, animations, and websites. The activities include:

  • Projects introducing key programming concepts
  • Following step-by-step instructions
  • Creating something different and original in each project
  • Encouraging challenge-based learning
