 HSA (Home School Association)

HSA

What is the HSA? – The HSA is here for you, the parents, grandparents, carers and teachers of all the children who attend Cwmrhydyceirw Primary School.  Our main aim is to raise funds to purchase items that would otherwise fall outside the school’s budget, and to organise social events where parents, children and staff can meet each other informally and in a relaxed atmosphere.

How does it work? – The HSA is run by a committee of an elected chair, secretary and treasurer.  These representatives are elected annually at the first HSA meeting or AGM of the school year.  Supporting this committee is a group of parents, grandparents, carers and staff (some of whom also have children attending the school), who together with the committee decide what the HSA should do each year and then actually deliver it.

How to help? – If you would like to become involved with the HSA, whether it’s simply sitting in on our meetings just to listen; coming up with ideas, or helping out at our events then please get in touch. We always welcome new-comers and would value any help or suggestions you have.

How is money raised spent? – The H.S.A usually keeps some money in the savings account and adds to that regularly.  Other monies raised goes into the current account and a cheque for an agreed amount is given to the school to spend on resources for the children to use.  Items purchased in the past include:

  • Construction toys for all years
  • Computers
  • PE mats and other sports equipment
  • Child friendly digital cameras for multi media use in the classroom
  • Funding for the school library
  • Gifts for staff retiring
  • Playground resources for all pupils, including new yard markings on the early-years, infant and junior yards!

Thank you, HSA!
